1. Nutcracker at the new Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts

Matt and I splurged a bit last weekend (as in Dec. 18) and saw the Nutcracker at this brand new state-of-the-art performing arts center. This structure was engineered to have the best acoustics in the world. The world. The front of the structure is quite amazing, but I didn’t get any photos of it.

Also those blue lights? That’s Terpsichore for Kansas City, a structure inside the center’s parking garage. It’s a light organ that plays in tune with the jazz music playing in the parking garage. All jazz music played is original pieces by Kansas City composers. Cool, huh? *

    * Part of my job has to do with promoting/talking about all of the above, but really, I’m it’s pretty cool.

Also, the Nutcracker performance was phenomenal. It was, simply, a marvelous evening. And one I won’t be likely to forget.
